Future Educator
My Portfolio

My name is Melody Lewis. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. A junior at Delaware State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. I chose this major because I love working with children and I have a passion for teaching. It amazes me to see children go through different stages of development. It also brings me happiness to see them grow, not only as a person, but as students. It means a lot to me to be able to have such an everlasting impact on my future students. My favorite teacher from K-12 would have to be my 11th grade English teacher, Mr. Dire. He was my favorite teacher because he made learning fun. Many people find English boring, a lot of reading and a lot of writing. But Mr. Dire made sure that the information we were learning was relatable. He taught it in a way that we found interesting. He would propose ideas to us in a creative way that would actually make us think. The person that inspires me the most is my Aunt Tracy. She is the most thoughtful person ever. She's so giving, caring and loving. Not to mention she's so strong and independent. She inspires me in a way that I can't explain. I hope to one day be just as phenomenal as she is.
